Uses the official ICAO Document 9303 check-digit algorithm (weights 7-3-1 repeating). This generates a TD3 (standard passport-size) MRZ for reference/learning purposes — it does NOT create a valid legal travel document and cannot be used to forge or alter an actual passport.

📘 How to Use This Tool

Generate a sample MRZ, or validate an existing one's check digits.

  1. To generate: fill in surname, given names, passport number, nationality code, DOB, sex, and expiry date, then click Generate MRZ.
  2. The generated MRZ uses the official ICAO check-digit algorithm, so it's correctly formatted for learning or reference purposes.
  3. To validate: paste both lines of an existing MRZ (44 characters each) into the second box and click Validate MRZ.
  4. The validator recalculates each check digit and tells you exactly which one(s), if any, don't match.
